What existing surface is suitable to accept a SHER-WAY® system?
Typically, any solid surface is suitable. Concrete, asphalt, block paving and concrete paving slabs are traditionally used in the UK and all are a suitable sub base.
In most cases, you won’t need to remove your old surface, as the S HER-WAY® system is highly flexible and the thickness can be adapted to address old surfacing defects.
How long will my SHER-WAY® surface last?
Rubber paving is a very durable product.
The Sher-Way system has been installed in North America for more than 20 years and many of the earliest installations are still looking great.
With a little care and attention, you can plan on your Sher-Way rubber surfacing lasting a very long time.
How can I take care of my SHER-WAY® finish?
Regular cleaning is recommended (regular sweeping and an annual pressure wash) and it is advisable to roller or spray apply a strengthening treatment to the surface every 3-7 years. This creates an ‘as new’ look.
Can my rubber paving be repaired easily?
Don’t worry! You won’t have to uplift your entire surface.
Any accidental rips, tears, damage, or stubborn and unsightly stains can be repaired by cutting out the damaged area and reapplying new rubber.
How long does the system take to install?
Expert installers can complete a residential project within one business day; however, completion timelines are dependent on the weather and the scale of a project.
Upon completion, projects are open to foot traffic in 24 hours and drivable within 72 hours.
Are rubber driveways toxin free?
YES. Rubber paving is 100% non-toxic and safe to use around your home or business. This technology is very similar to the rubber safety surfacing used in most playground right across the world, so you can rest assured it is fully accredited and totally safe.
How much does rubber surfacing cost?
Each job is different and price will depend on the quantity of material required, selection of colours, required designs and other factors. Regardless, you can consider rubber paving to be one of the most cost effective surfacing solution s for your paving project when considering the initial cost and the most cost effective long term solution.
As, in most cases, you do not need to remove your old surface prior to installation of rubber paving, you can expect large savings if your existing surfacing is in poor condition.
What will happen to my driveway during Winter?
Rubber paving provides three main advantages regarding snow and ice.
Firstly, water does not pool easily on the surface, reducing the risk of ice formation that is often the cause of many slips and injuries.
Secondly, snow removal is much easier with rubber paving as the textured surface makes it easier to scrape compared to other surfacing which may have cracks or joints which can snag removal equipment.
The rubber finish, often predominantly black in colour, will absorb heat much more quickly than a other surfacing options resulting in faster thawing.
